From The President's Desk

Greetings,

A New Year has arrived and one wonders what is in store for this world in 2004. We can hope that the disasters, both natural and man-made, of 2003 are of the past and this year will be one of peace and good fortune for all.

In this newsletter you will read a report of the situation that ostomates face in Nepal. When you realize that the supplies we have in this country are always available when we need them, and the services of an Enterostmal Nurse are but a phone call away I find the report most enlightening and disturbing. Also Pelvic Pouch Surgery is now 20 years old, and some concerns have arisen. That article is most interesting. Then, Carol Aitken has contributed two articles, one on colonoscopies and the other about our Christmas Party in December. Thanks Carol.

Site inspections of four venues, all in downtown Winnipeg, for the UOAC Annual Conference in August 2005 were conducted in November, so by the time you read this, the chosen venue may very well have been selected.

May this New Year find you in good health and bring with it all you wish for.

Dave
