From The President's Desk

2005 is upon us. Time for new beginnings, a fresh start, time to do all those great things we resolved to do last year but never managed to get around to doing.

For those of us who are fortunate to live in relative comfort, peace and safety, we are seldom aware just how fragile this world can be. For those living in southern Asia that reality is very real.

I'm sure we all reacted with fascinated horror as the tragedy developed as day-by-day more and more people were reported dead or missing. The recovery process is now underway, I urge all of us to help in whatever way we can. The National Media have done an excellent job is documenting the ways we can assist.

On a personal note, two cousins of mine, both British citizens, have been living and working in Sri Lanka for a number of years. They are still missing. It hits home.

Plans for UOAC Conference 2005 in August, are well underway, and we look forward to welcoming ostomates from all across Canada to Winnipeg. Join us, it should be a great three days.

If the weather co-operates, see you at the chapter meeting on January 26th.

Dave
