From The President's Desk
It was a bitterly cold night for our January meeting but we had a great turnout despite the weather. Loads of food, time for conversation and a fun video made for a great social evening. Now we're working on other business for Year 2010.
A few members on the WOA Executive have been working hard to produce a Youth Camp Policy to address issues that we may encounter when sponsoring a child to the UOAC camp. Come out to our February 24th meeting to see if they have managed to anticipate all possibilities.
Sheelah Zapf, President of the Edmonton Ostomy Association and Prairie Regional Representative for District Support Services of United Ostomy Association of Canada (UOAC) will be our special guest at our meeting March 24th. Pull out your Ostomy Canada Summer 2008 magazine and read the article on Page 20 to learn about the accomplishments of this special lady.
April 10, 2010 is the date set for the training of new visitors and the re-certification of current visitors.
- All current visitors are due to be re-certified. Please mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend. A letter will be arriving in your mail shortly to confirm this.
- We are always looking for new visitors. If you think this is something that you might want to try, please call me at 489-2731 or let your ET know ASAP. We thank ET nurses, Angie Libbrecht and Jennifer Bourdeaud'hui, who will be very much involved in the training process of both groups.
For the next three chapter meetings we will be highlighting some of the members and giving them a chance to speak to you on various subjects such as travelling, hospital stays, coping skills, etc. The members have always enjoyed this opportunity to hear other members' stories. We hope you'll be there.
