Visitor's Needed!

To our members! We need more visitors because the number of visiting members is decreasing but our visiting program is the prime purpose of our organization.

We provide emotional support and educational services. We all have had a visitor come to see us when we had our operations and surely remember the lift it gave to our spirits. It helped just to know there were people who cared and were knowledgeable enough to answer our questions and give support when we needed it most.

Perhaps you are afraid to become involved because you think it will require a lot of your time and you will be called upon several times in a month to make a visit. I want to assure you this will not be a problem. We average 5 to 8 operations in a month and as there are various types, age groups and genders etc. you will be lucky to be called to visit once in every two months. We also arrange phone visits and the occasional home visit.

You will find it a rewarding experience and enjoy the satisfaction of giving something back - now that you have successfully taken up your lifestyle again.

The visitor training session is basically protocol - how to act and conduct yourself during a visit, what to say and not to say and also some very good information from our speaker and the E.T.s. It is quite informal and you are free to ask questions. The discussions are quite open and you do not have to write an exam. So please don't be afraid to come out and see what we are about. If you so desire, you are under no obligation to join the visiting program.

If you wish to come to the visitor training, either see me, Anne Lecot, at the March meeting or phone me at 339-7413. I look forward to hearing from you!
