Tips For Ordering Ostomy Supplies in Manitoba

Ostomy supplies in Manitoba are purchased through the Materials Distribution Agency (MDA), which is part of the Manitoba Ostomy Program (MOP).

Manitoba ostomates pay half of the first $600 of ostomy supplies ordered each fiscal year, which runs from April 1 - March 31. Costs over $600 are fully covered by the provincial government through the MOP. Therefore ostomates in Manitoba pay a maximum of $300 per fiscal year for their supplies.

Most appliances are fully covered by the plan but deodorants and other "non-essential" items are not. Speak to your ET for further clarification.

Remember, your ET pre-approves any ostomy supplies which you use and includes them in your file. So call your ET if you wish to make a product change or are having problems.

A new voice mail system has been implemented at the usual 945-8610 or 1-800-561-8313 numbers. Some tips on using the voice mail. You will need to have ready:

  1. Your name
  2. Your client number which is your Manitoba Health "Personal Health No." (9 digits)
  3. The items being ordered including:
  4. Type of payment i.e. credit card, cheque, cash
  5. Pick up or delivery
Please note that you can speak to someone by pressing "0" at any time. Also, please realize that when the phone is not answered it means the staff are either busy with another client on the phone or away from their desk.
