Thanks to Rosemary Gaffray and Mike Leverick, we have an Internet Link on the Winnipeg Free Press Passages page which has been set up for those people who may wish to make a donation to the WOA in memory of a friend or family member. The link will take you to the WOA page which provides you with a printable form for such givings.
At our Chapter meeting on February 22, 2006, we were greatly pleased to present Evelyn Waldera a plaque in honour of her 60th Anniversary of her ostomy surgery way back on March 4, 1946. The plaque read in part…..
It is believed that Evelyn is the only living ostomate in North America and possibly in the world with this many years behind her surgery. Evelyn has been a great role model for all ostomates in that she has lived a vibrant, active life filled with joy and happiness, sometimes sadness and difficulties, but always with a sense that life is worth living to the fullest.
Evelyn has met her obstacles and challenges with grace and patience. She continues to work tirelessly for the good of the WOA and its members as well as many other volunteer organizations. Evelyn's optimism, great smile and wonderful outlook continue to be a great example for all who know her. We are truly blessed and thank Evelyn for being part of our lives.
Our Chapter is filled with members like Rosemary and Evelyn and I am looking forward to what the next few months will present.
