World Ostomy Day October 7, 2006
The Theme - LIVING LIFE TO THE FULL
The aim of World Ostomy Day is to improve the rehabilitation of Ostomates worldwide by bringing ostomies to the attention of the general public and the global community.
How Do We Live Life To The Full?
- By telling stories and writing articles of our every day life.
- By doing interviews on radio and television about the life situation of ostomates; the contribution of Ostomy associations; the value of the multidisciplinary approach on ostomy care; by our actions and by living life to the fullest.
Activities To Promote Awareness
- Educational programs, seminars, support meetings and demonstrations. For example, talking to government, setting displays up in malls.
- Electronic information network, newspaper and magazine announcements, advertisements and articles.
- World Ostomy Day poster distribution.
- Publication of informative handout materials and brochures.
- Public service announcements.
- Official government proclamations and city proclamations, and joint activities with allied agencies and professional health associations.
To All Chapters and District Reps
This is a major event. It's something we can all get behind and promote throughout our regions. On the last World Ostomy Day, we did not have many chapters participate.
This WORLD OSTOMY DAY - October 7, 2006 Let's strive to reach 100%
REMEMBER - Big or small, let's show the WORLD we made the effort.
