Helmut Friesen has been a tireless champion of the Chapter in many capacities, just to mention a few; as Visitor; collector of FOW supplies; a member of the Manitoba Ostomy Product Committee and 1st Vice President for the last seven years. Although he will still be active in the other areas, he has decided it’s time for new blood on the Executive and has stepped down from the position of 1st Vice President. He will be greatly missed in this position as he created a no nonsense type of leadership, had a valuable knowledge of government workings, was extremely supportive of the President and it’s role, and brought with him a great desire to create a viable and growing membership.
Elaine Beyer as Visitor Coordinator and Trainer brought with her new, innovative changes to the training program for the last five years. She has developed a great rapport with the visitors ensuring that the patients have received that most important visit or phone call. She has compiled statistics that show the effectiveness of our visiting program and has worked to create a better system. Her quiet manner, great contacts among the medical community and dedication have done us well in the past. Elaine has agreed to stay on as Visitor Trainer but has passed on the role of Visitor Coordinator.
Although these people will be greatly missed in their previous roles, I know that they will continue to work for the good of the Chapter and its members.
I welcome John Kelemen as 1st Vice President and Cathy Zitzelsberger as Visitor Coordinator to our Executive. Both of these members have brought much to our Chapter already and I’m extremely confident that they are well suited to these positions and will provide the chapter with great leadership.
Another member of our Executive, Rosemary Gaffray has put in countless hours as Treasurer for the past number of years. At our General Meeting she presented the Chapter with the auditor’s report.
It is important to note that when we read the auditor’s report it is because of members like Rosemary and your Executive Board and their leadership that we receive such a glowing report. To quote; "Our audit findings indicate a good system of internal control which includes active Board member participation and good control over operating expenses." and "As your auditors, we have confidence in the information presented in these financial statements and that the system of internal control is adequate and adhered to."
Have a great summer!
Lorrie
