Thanks go out to Gigi Elkie, representative from Hollister for providing our morning coffee, snacks & lunch. Dave Page, WOA Past President started the afternoon off with a history of the Manitoba Ostomy Program - explaining about our very unique program for ostomates.
Elaine Beyer and Tina Rutledge, ET worked together to explain the anatomy and physiology of ostomy and continent procedures through a slide presentation.
Cathy Zitzelsberger, Visitor Co-ordinator outlined the procedure of visiting - from receiving the request from the ET to the Visitor's report. She took a few minutes to explain the use of the manual that was handed out. All through the day, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and ideas and learn how to reach out to the new ostomates and offer support and caring in the future.
