Many thanks go out to super hostesses Maureen and Sharon for offering their wonderful abode for our Spring Thaw Benefit and doing ALL the preparation before hand. We all had a super time and I'm pleased to say that over $1200.00 was raised that evening. This was a very unique event for our organization and I have heard talk about doing it again. Jayden is off to camp once more!
Talking about camp! We have another child who wishes to attend camp. Happily, the Executive agreed to pay her registration costs of $550.00 for camp this year with the idea of looking at our options for next year for both girls.
On April 22, 2009 our Chapter was presented with the Premier's Volunteer Service Award for 2009 for the support and work we have been doing since 1972 for Manitoba ostomates and their families. This is quite an honour and we thank Nurit Drory who so graciously nominated us.
Disability Tax Credit Services just advised me that my claim has been approved and I am now waiting to get my letter and cheque from the government. WOW! If you weren't at the meeting and are interested in talking to this group, you may contact representatives Cheryl Kehler or Shonna Pepper at (204) 221-8628.
World Ostomy Day – Plans are well on the way to another BBQ event to celebrate this day. A room has been booked for Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 7:30pm SMD Bldg. Room 203 to discuss our plans before we break for summer completely. Please support your chapter and the planning committee by attending this meeting to hear what is being planned. Till then …..
Best Regards,
Lorrie
