After a very short business meeting President Lorrie Pismenny invited members and guests to sample, really it was more like devour, the various food items that that members had provided. Liquid refreshment was available, just to make sure we didn't have dehydration difficulties. Judging by the number of people who returned to the ‘Food Line' for seconds (and thirds?) and the look of pleasurable satisfaction on everybody's face, our stomachs were quite contented.
Entertainment for the evening was provided was provided by the Karpat Hungarian Folk Dancers of Winnipeg. Under the direction of Agi Libor, this young, enthusiastic dance troupe showcased dances from Hungary.Their enthusiasm and vigor was greatly enjoyed by all.
The Karpat Dancers will be performing at the Hungarian Pavillion during the second week of Folklorama this August. Be sure to catch them there.
With Auctioneer par Excellance, Helmut Friesen presiding, with the help of his better half, Gretta, tickets were drawn and the items dispensed, much to the delight of the recipients, heck some got more than they deserved, others weren't so fortunate, but, there is always next time. The items up for auction were many and varied, from home made wood carvings and bird baths and cages to kitchen items to wild rice to many other too numerous to mention here. Thanks to all who donated items to the Auction.
