I was surprised to learn that she really didn't know that there were other young ostomates out there that she could relate to. I know that there wasn't one person in attendance who was not truly touched by this very young, very well adjusted person. I remind you all once more that tax deductible donations can be made to the Winnipeg Ostomy Association and be directed to the ‘Youth Camp Fund' in order to send this child to camp again.
Tax Credits: At our meeting in September, a member brought up the Disability Tax Credit. He had applied, been accepted and encouraged everyone to apply as he found it to be quite lucrative. However, some of the members have been denied in the past or had some bad experiences. A great deal of discussion arose. As a result, we have asked the Disability Tax Credit Services to do a presentation at our meeting on November 26, 2008 to explain how to work through this process successfully. They will explain the following: a) What is the disability tax credit? b) Who should apply? c) Are you eligible? d) How to fill the form out. I hope that you will all come out to see if this could work for you. We can all use a tax credit these days.
Rides to meetings: I know there are some of you who are reading this at the moment who would just love to come to our meetings but you don't have transportation for one reason or another. Would you attend the meetings IF you had a ride? If so, I need you to contact me and let me know.

Christmas Luncheon! Don't forget our Christmas Lunch on Sunday, November 30, 2008. Because Helmut has to give the hotel the final numbers four working days before the party, you need to contact Helmut or Gretta at 888-4014 before our meeting to book a ticket or two if you haven't already done so.
At the time of this writing the snow has not yet arrived and I am hoping that it will hold off much longer. However, it wouldn't be Christmas without snow for most of us, so with that in mind, on behalf of the WOA Executive I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
