Upon her arrival in Calgary, Jayden contacted her mother telling her that all was well and continued on her journey to Fort Bragg with a volunteer who had awaited her. There were approximately 150 - 200 children ranging in age from 9 -18. They had come from all across Canada with the exception of two campers who had traveled all the way from the United States. Each cabin accommodated 20 youth and one counselor. Two nurses were also on staff to handle any medical emergencies.
A typical day at camp included a number of activities such as swimming, white water rafting, wall climbing, arts and crafts and Magic Circle time. Magic circle time was an opportunity for the campers to talk about themselves and share some of their experiences. With such an active schedule is it any wonder Jayden said there was little time or interest in watching TV! One of Jayden's favorite activities was white water rafting and although she would have liked to have tried wall climbing, she had not yet reached the required age which was fourteen. She stated that the food was excellent and in her opinion she couldn't think of anything that needed changing.
As a grand finale to an already great week there was a windup party and dance. Jayden had brought along numerous pictures which she shared with the members. These scenes captured the picturesque Fort Bragg outdoors as well as the interior of the cabin and friends she met. She thoroughly enjoyed her camp experience and would love to go back again. The members found her to be a very articulate and delightful young lady and will make every effort to raise funds so that she may go back again next year.
